Focus on Academics 

The purpose of a school district is to deliver education to children. Therefore, academics must be a primary focus of any School Director. Our desire is that the outcomes for ALL students at Ringgold be excellent.  

In 2022, the PA Department of Education published the school performance scores which detail the literacy rates for 3rd grade. (Click here to see recent 3rd grade data) Learning to read is one of the highest priorities of an elementary school education. Students who do not master reading are at a substantially higher risk of academic failure in high school.  

We advocate for: 

Identification of students who need more intervention 

• Greater communication with parents  

• Use recent data driven results to evaluate curriculum 

• Educator input about effective teaching methods 

• Increased hands-on learning 

• Innovative reading programs and strategies 

In higher grade levels, we would like to see the following: 

• Ensure that AP, College in High School, and Honors courses are available

• Expand VoTech offerings and expose students to their options at a younger age 

• Explore Dual Certification possibilities 

• Develop relationships with local businesses for learning opportunities 

• Explore possible partnerships with local trade unions
